Super Weekend

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Friday –

I sang and played in the homeschool choir/band concert. My last one! The choir sang our songs the best we ever have, and our last band song – Hang on Sloopy – was…. memorable. I’ll just say it involved costumes and wigs and picket signs and bandanas and a British accent.

I went out to Godfather’s Pizza for a celebratory dinner with Mom, Dad, and a friend. We had a taco pizza and a Humble Pie.

My friend and I decided to have a sleepover at my house. Activities included watching the last 1/2 of LOTR The Fellowship of the Ring, watching a Jeeves and Wooster episode (arguably the best one ever), eating popcorn, drinking tea, and taking quizzes on Facebook. We finally went to bed at about 5 am…

Saturday –

We got up about 10 am and climbed around the woods behind my house before my friend had to leave for a soccer game.

Mom, Dad and I went on errands: the library to drop off books, Hall Bicycle Company where I bought this guy in Stain Nickle. He’s a beaut and a real pleasure to ride.

We took the bike home and went to Sam’s Club where we got a box of 850 gum balls for my high school graduation party. (Sam’s had them for a whole lot less than what that online store is selling them for.)

Then we were off to the Marion Arts Festival. If you clicked that link, be sure to scroll down and click the Junk Funk video! I really like this type of festival, even if I don’t dig every art booth there. While I was there, I ran into my friend again. She had just gotten out of her soccer game and was on her way to the Marion Library. We Strolled around the booths and then went over here:

where we were looking for books like this one that I picked up:

The Clocks

The Clocks

I finished it tonight. It was REALLY good!

My friend and I ran into another friend at the festival right before I got myself a garlic chicken wrap from a booth run by one of these Greek Orthodox churches. It was surprising (surprisingly good!). It had fried potatoes and onions in it, essentially french fries and onion rings – IN A WRAP! *grin*

I said bye to my friends and Mom, Dad and I took off for Best Buy and The Factory Card Outlet.

Then we went home, chilled, ate supper, Dad and I went on a short bike ride, and I read my new Agatha Christie.

We went to a concert put on by The Iowa Composers Forum featuring new music by Iowan composers. My brother Matt had a piece featured in it.

Sunday – An earlier morning than I wanted, I admit! Music practice, Sunday school, and worship service in the morning at my church. The lunch at Casa Las Glorias. I had combo #17.

Mom, Dad, and I went to Kingston Hill to lead a short service. I played piano, Dad led the singing and gave a ’sermon’ on Nahum 1:1-7, and Mom sat by the sweet old ladies and chatted with them. Dad and I chatted with them too :D.

We had a brief afternoon home before heading back to church for a fellowship meal and evening service.

Like I said: super weekend!
