:)

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

A couple of months ago, I wrote about Timbuk2, a company based in San Francisco that makes awesome messenger bags, advocates bike riding over driving vehicles, and is generally hip and cool. Well, I am now the proud owner of a second Timbuk2 bag (though it hasn’t arrived yet)! The decision on which bag to get was long in the making, but I finally found the right bag to buy.

I chose the limited edition Hemp Blogger. I chose the Blogger because I like the fresh look, the fact that it has a protective area for my relatively new Apple Macbook, and a spacious interior. It also has a front zippered compartment to hold ‘essentials’. I chose the Hemp because it’s eco friendly and looks cool. As a side note, I thought about getting the limited edition wool Blogger, but decided against that because I’m slightly allergic. :)

Some of you with good memories might be wondering why I didn’t get the design your own messenger bag that I said I wanted to get next. There’s a simple reason, the colors that I liked best aren’t all available anymore, and I couldn’t find any other colors or combinations that I liked well enough to buy (remember, I’m a perfectionist!).

When I get the bag, I’ll take a picture and put it on the site for ya!

Thanks

I just wanted to use this opportunity to thank everybody who helped make my birthday special. It was one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had.

  • Mom, Dad, thanks for the breakfast donuts, the great gifts, the love, and the fun! I appreciate all you do so much, even if I don’t always show it.
  • Moriah, thanks for shopping with me, I enjoyed it a ton … we should go again when my checking account recovers.
  • McClurgs, thanks for the brownies, ice cream, and games. It was so nice of you to invite me and my family into your home.
  • Bre and Tiff, the surprise lunch was awesome! Thanks for planning it. It was fun to share the meal and hang out at the mall afterwards.
  • To all the rest of you who contributed, thanks so much. God has really blessed me with good, loyal friends and family who know me well enough to know what excites and touches me. Thanks!

WOW!

Ok, I know that this is one of those stupid things that your not supposed to admit, but… I have to share this! I was just at www.oneplace.com selecting an Adventures in Oddysey to listen to when I made a startling discovery. Rodney Rathbone’s gang is called the Bones of Wrath because it’s like his last name! Rathbone; Bones of Wrath. I can’t believe I never saw that before! I’ve listened to Adventures in Oddysey for at least 12 years and I’ve never seen that connection. I’m totally LOLing at myself! Have any of you ever had an experience like this? If so, I’d love to hear about it!

Good Intentions

Friday, January 4th, 2008

Isn’t it ‘funny’ how many good intentions we humans make and then excuse away? I am very good at this. I have many good intentions, and I fulfill about 10% of them.

I usually get all caught up in the new year resolution hype that comes ’round this time of year. This year I (gasp) didn’t make any resolutions. Instead, I have decided to try to be more disciplined. I figure that I will see more results if, with God’s help, I steadily become more disciplined in all the areas of my life than if I was to write out a detailed list of everything in my life that needs to change and then ‘promise’ to change.

Unfortunately, I am anything but disciplined. I practice harp until I feel like quitting, I sleep until I feel like getting up (or until my parents make me), I eat whatever I feel like eating, and go back for seconds for dessert.  I goof off in the middle of a school, I put things off till tomorrow that should have been done today, and I waste away my days by making my duties last way longer than they need to.

I suppose that writing this post at nearly 11 pm isn’t going to help me fulfill my good intention of getting up before 8 tomorrow morning (that’s early for Saturday) which will get me a good start on  the day so that I can get done what needs to get done before lunch so that I can do something fun and adventuresome with the two people in the world that I love most (my mom and dad) to celebrate my upcoming birthday. So…. I’ll quit typing and go to sleep listening to an Adventure in Oddysey. I hope.
